Espresso Martini Cocktail Recipe

An Espresso Martini is a classic cocktail perfect for coffee lovers—the blend of coffee and vodka makes for a great drink. Ideal for parties or after a delicious meal.

Cooking time: 5 min

Ingredients

  • 50 ml Vodka
  • 30 ml Coffee Liqueur (Kahlua)
  • 50 ml Freshly Brewed Espresso
  • 1 tsp of Sugar Syrup (optional)
  • Ice
  • 3 Coffee Beans, for garnish

Preparation

  • Firstly, prepare a fresh espresso and let it cool slightly.
  • Fill a shaker with ice and add vodka, coffee liqueur, the cooled espresso and sugar syrup if desired.
  • Shake well until the outside of the cocktail shaker feels cold.
  • Strain into a chilled martini glass, ensuring to catch any small ice shards.
  • Garnish the martini with coffee beans and serve immediately.

Serving

  • Espresso Martini is best served chilled. Pop the glass in the fridge for a few minutes before serving. This cocktail makes a great after-dinner drink. But remember, drink responsibly!

Tips

  • Play around with the recipe to suit your preferences. If you prefer a sweeter cocktail, add more sugar syrup. If you want it strong, add more vodka. Remember that the key to a great Espresso Martini is using good-quality, fresh espresso—not instant coffee.

History

The Espresso Martini has a rich history. It was created by British bartending guru Dick Bradsell in the 1980s while working at the Soho Brasserie in London. It was an instant hit and is still served widely today as a classic cocktail.
